Certified translation electronically (FAQ)

1. An electronic certified translation – what is it and what does one look like?

It looks the same as a certified translation by a legal translator. There are three parts:

• The document you need translated
• A translation preserving the visual formatting of the original document
• A certificate with the legal translator’s details and an electronic signature

2. What format will the electronic translation be in?

The final translation will be in PDF/A format. Open it in a PDF file viewer, just like any other file.

3. How do I arrange an electronic certified translation?

Simply scan the documents you need translated and send them via email.

Make a note that you wish to submit the translation electronically.

4. How much does a certified translation cost?

The price of an electronic certified translation depends on the type of document, its size, and the deadline. I quote for each job individually.

5. Does the translation have to be handed over in person?

No. Everything will be done over email.

6. Does an e-translation have the same validity as a stamped paper version?

Yes. An electronic translation fulfills all the legal requirements for translations carried out by legal translators.

Electronic and paper translations carry equal validity.

7. What if I request a translation electronically and then need a physical version?

Simply head to a Czech post office with a CzechPoint desk and have the document converted. It costs 30 CZK to convert a single side.

8. Can I use an electronic translation anywhere, anytime?

It is best to first check with the office that requires the translated document.

It is safe to say that, for example, the Czech financial administration office accepts electronic translations.
